Chinese New Year

All this talk about the year of the Ox got me to looking up the Chinese baby chart and wondering if it would be accurate for Sanna. What do you know, it is?!

Sanna spent her 28th week in utero listening to the sounds of the Mexican Riviera! She loved almost everything about it, the food, the sunshine and the crashing of the ocean waves - the only exceptions were the hard beds (think, lying on cement) and the long fight home after a long day.

By this week, baby Sanna weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels. She can open and close her eyes, which now sport lashes. This movement is more of a reflexive blink than a deliberate opening and closing, but it won't be long before she's batting those beauties at you.

Oh, my!

We are less than 90 days to baby... if Sanna comes near her due date. That's three months away. It's just now hitting me that we're two-thirds through this pregnancy. No need to panic, still plenty of time to get things in order, but... wow, where does the time go?! When I start nesting in Minnesota, I shall email or Skype (now that we can) to see if you're doing the same thing in Trondheim!

Handkraft from generations to generations

Just wanted to share; Tommy’s sister Mette got those pink knitted dresses from her grandmother (her mothers mother) as a little girl. When Mette got Nora Annie she wore those clothes – and she will have them stored in a box in case she will get a daughter in the future. In the meantime Sanna will get to use them too.

And, the little wool-socks is a gift from Tommy’s mother. She asked her mother 7 years ago is she could knit a pair of baby socks with the thought of Tommy being a father in the future. She did, and Tommy’s mother has stored those socks all this time and could finally take them out from the closet this Christmas. Yes, there were tears during the handing over…. Very emotional, grandmother passed away over three years ago, so it’s very special. Sanna is a lucky girl!!

26 Week OB Appointment

Passed my glucose at 96. Weight and BP are good. Sanna's heartbeat was nice and strong. Measuring ahead to 29 weeks (fundal height). She asked if this was going to be another big baby? LOL! I told her that you thought you were both around 8 lbs, but maybe that's my bad memory. I fessed up that I was going on vacay and she was fine with it. She asked me to take a copy of my records with me and be watchful of the food/water. I also found out she will be out of town the week prior to our due date/Sunday. The other two OB's on call that week are female and will respect my VBAC wishes... although I never go early so I hope this doesn't get jinxed. I really want her to deliver this baby.

All is good.

26 Weeks

I felt Sanna with the hiccups for the first time this past weekend. She's growing, flipping & bumping on a daily basis. She really seems to like Sunday mornings in church and my singing (at least someone does?! LOL!) as her activity seems to pick up for that hour each week. So far I can still flip from side to side in bed without too much effort.

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when hse's born and takes that first gulp of air. And she's continuing to put on baby fat. She now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

JP wanted to know this morning if you will need a stroller while you're here? I know you'll need a carseat. We can help you look into borrowing these while you're here if you don't want to purchase and have even more to travel home with... just let us know.

This week we have a check-up on Friday afternoon and I take the glucose tolerance test for gestational diabetes. I don't have any concerns and I'm sure the afternoon appointment will be pretty routine.
